Thorne, Samuel and Mary - Tombstones at Lake

Samuel was one of the five children of John and Mary

Mary, daughter of William O'Bryan, married Samuel, son of John and Mary Thorne

Inscriptions read:

Underneath is sown the natural body of Samuel Thorne printer: a member of the first Bible Christian society, Class Leader, Society & Circuit Steward, Book Steward, member of the executive committee, preacher of the gospel for 57 years.

Born at North Furze in this parish June 9, 1798.

Died hanging on Christ May 25, 1873 Mount Charles, St Austell, Cornwall.

Swallowed up in victory and raised incorruptible.

 

In affectionate remembrance of Mary, wife of Samuel Thorne, printer.
Daughter of William O’Bryan, founder of the Bible Christians, among whom she was a Minister sixty years.

Born at Gunwen, Luxulyan, Dobwall,  April 8, 1807.
Died at Stonehouse, Devon, Nov 12, 1883.

Christ the first fruits; afterwards are Christ’s at his coming.
